Places to discover in Paris during your trip
The Viaduc des Arts is located near the Bastille and is home to artistic works from some of Paris' finest, creative talent. Here you'll see various collections, consisting of antique dolls, exceptional jewellery, tapestries, modern furnishings and even robotic models. Tea and coffee is also served in the lower part of the building and salsa rhythms can be enjoyed, while eating lunch or dinner in select restaurants.
The Promenade Plantee formed in 1988, was created by Philippe Mathieux and Jacques Vergely, on what were once railway lines. The railway lines functioned as link from Place de la Bastille, to Varenne-Saint-Maur. Here you will see a large variety of plant species, including hazelnut trees, rosebushes and climbing plants.
Bois de Vincennes is simply not to be missed. This place, originally named Vilcena, is enchanting and somewhat mystical. The Bois de Vincennes is actually a part of what used to be an ancient forest belt, enclosing Lutece. Royals once hunted on these grounds, although it presently serves as a zoo, racecourse, flower park and is home to the Institute of National Sports.
