Paris Plages on the banks of the Seine and at the Bassin de la Villette

Paris Plages 2010 required around 1,357 tons of sand to transform the banks of the Seine into a beach. The Bassin of the Villette and the route Georges Pompidou received millions of visitors who lived among the rhythms of the spectacle and its many festivities. Others lounged on the beach; a good between their hands thanks to the short-lived library.

In 2011, Paris Plages celebrated its 10th edition and three million people took advantage of the event. The large new attractions characterized this edition, like the transformation of the beach which stretched for one kilometer.

Paris plages 2012, le programme

For 4 weeks, from July 20th to August 19th, the route Georges Pompidou and the Bassin de la Villette will receive this year’s Paris Plages event. For this edition, music will be the highlight; so, from the 19th to the 22nd of July, the square of the Hotel de Ville will be transformed into a free concert scene. Canoe-kayak, oars, mini-golf, VTT Mountain Biking, and Roller Tube also figure into the program.
