Musee Rodin is one of the biggest museums in France with 700000 visitors each year and a collection of almost 30000 sculptures, drawings, photographs and other works of art. The Musee Rodin is a real treasure trove of art! This magnificent private mansion dating from the beginning of the 18th century, is easily accessible from the Hotel de Suede. It houses not only the work of Rodin the sculptor, painter, drawer and photographer, but also the treasures of Rodin the collector. The artist effectively gleaned over the years a host of assorted objects, often antiques, from Greece, Rome and the Middle East.

Christmas windows at the Galeries Lafayette have an added dimension this winter 2012, as the department store on the Boulevard Haussmann is also celebrating the 100th anniversary of its famous dome. As part of the sumptuous Christmas of the Century celebrations to mark the occasion, the displays in its 12 windows have been designed by Louis Vuitton. And the result certainly lives up to the prestige of the event!

Louis Vuitton was inspired by this anniversary to stage an incredible Ball of the Century, whose guests are none other than a host of facetious exotic animals. Onlookers can enjoy a spectacular show performed by bears, pandas, flamingos and penguins!

Anima, Charlotte Dumas: animal beauty at the Dutch Institute

Anima, Charlotte Dumas is a major retrospective devoted to the work of the Dutch artist, famous for her photographs of animals. Fascinated by the relationship between animals and human beings, she imbues her photographs with a major sensitivity which you can discover for yourself until 20th January at the Dutch Institute (Institut Néerlandais).

Inaugurated in 1957, the Dutch cultural centre is one of the oldest in Paris. It stages throughout the year a number of cultural events including concerts, conferences, dance and theatre evenings as well as film screenings. Anima, Charlotte Dumas, the exhibition currently being staged there is one of the highlights of its programme!
It throws the spotlight on the work of the photographer, who shares with her models – wolves, horses, tigers and dogs – a rare intimacy. This special rapport results in astonishing portraits, from which she has drawn the series Retrieved and Anima. You can also discover Polaroid pictures taken by the artist as part of her preparatory work, and presented for the first time to the public for the occasion of the Month of Photography!
