Roland Garros to Welcome Top Tennis Stars

From the 21st May to the 9th June, the exclusive Paris stadium will be the venue for the tennis tournament of the same name, also known as the French Open. This exclusive Grand Slam event attracts the top stars of international tennis over the 18 day period and is certain to be one of the biggest draws in the Paris calendar.

The French Open is one of the most important fixtures in the tennis world and was the first major tennis tournament to become an ‘Open’ back in 1968. The famous clay courts have seen many greats take the French Open men’s singles title, including Yannick Noah for France in 1983. This year, all eyes will be on reigning champion Rafael Nadal who has recently made tennis history for equalling Bjorn Borg’s record for number of tournaments won. Nadal has now won the French Open twice, and top players such as Andy Murray and Roger Federer are certain to want to take the title this year.

Musee Rodin : a cultural landmark 500m from the Hotel de Suede

The Musee Rodin is a real treasure trove of art! This magnificent private mansion dating from the beginning of the 18th century, is easily accessible from the Hotel de Suede. It houses not only the work of Rodin the sculptor, painter, drawer and photographer, but also the treasures of Rodin the collector. The artist effectively gleaned over the years a host of assorted objects, often antiques, from Greece, Rome and the Middle East.

After admiring these thousands of works, you can amble through the 3 hectares of gardens of the Hôtel Biron, which shelter numerous sculptures by Auguste Rodin, as well as savour some refreshments in the splendid museum café, popular with Parisians.

Par nature exhibition: the complex relationship between man and his environment

Gu Dexin chooses to condemn our consumer society with his work evoking waste and destruction, while Moatzar Nasr invites the visitor to scale his installation. All showcase metaphoric compositions, alternately poetic, social or mythological, which inspire in each of us a fascinating reflection.

Christmas market: soak up the fairytale atmosphere

This vast market, which is officially called the Paris Christmas Village, sets up its stalls each winter between Place de la Concorde and the Champs-Elysées roundabout. You have until 6th January to discover the stands brimming with ideas for the perfect gift, with an array of art and craft wares and Christmas decorations. You can also sample tasty regional specialities or warm up with a delicious mulled wine!

The Champs-Elysées Christmas market is also a place where youngsters are kept entertained with numerous fun rides and original attractions. Board the Little Christmas Train or the Ferris Wheel, and make sure you’re there at nightfall to catch a glimpse of Father Christmas riding off on his sleigh!

Anima, Charlotte Dumas, an original exhibition a stone’s throw from the Hotel de Suède

Inaugurated in 1957, the Dutch cultural centre is one of the oldest in Paris. It stages throughout the year a number of cultural events including concerts, conferences, dance and theatre evenings as well as film screenings. Anima, Charlotte Dumas, the exhibition currently being staged there is one of the highlights of its programme!
It throws the spotlight on the work of the photographer, who shares with her models – wolves, horses, tigers and dogs – a rare intimacy. This special rapport results in astonishing portraits, from which she has drawn the series Retrieved and Anima. You can also discover Polaroid pictures taken by the artist as part of her preparatory work, and presented for the first time to the public for the occasion of the Month of Photography!
